PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

FOLEY FAMILY WINES —Los Olivos, CA (2009 – 2017)         

Position: Winemaker/General Manager for Firestone Vineyards, Proximity 26, EOS Estate, Fog Theory, and Gretzky Wines

  • Responsible for all aspects of winemaking from vineyard to bottle for a 1,800 ton estate winery producing 100,000 cases for 3 brands in addition to the direction of two negociant brands.
  • Direct custom winemaking and bottling at Firestone facility for in company brands.
  • Direct vineyard operations through both a house vineyard manager and a viticultural consultant.
  • Manage all winery personnel, government compliance and regulatory reporting, inventory and record keeping.
  • Represent the winery and related brands in the market place including distributor presentations, work withs, and winemaker dinners.
  • Oversee the development of new vineyards and wine programs in an effort to establish new positions in the marketplace
  • Develop operating budget and capital spending plan for winery and vineyard.
  • Negotiate sale and purchase of grapes, and purchase of bulk wine

TREFETHEN FAMILY VINEYARDS — Napa, CA (1999 – 2008)          

Position: Winemaker

  • Oversaw winery operations for 1,100 ton estate winery producing 65,000 cases as well as 10,000 cases of custom crush production.
  • Advised and worked with vineyard team to ensure best viticultural practices and their timing.
  • Purchased barrels, bottling supplies, and winery equipment.
  • Managed all cellar and laboratory activities and personnel, compliance, work orders, and data entry.
  • Represented the winery in the market place.
  • Began as Assistant Winemaker and achieved Winemaker position after 2005 harvest.

CHATEAU POTELLE — Napa, CA (1997–1999)    

Position: Assistant Winemaker

  • Involved in all aspects of the winemaking process from laboratory, cellar work, bottling activities, fermentation, to blending and finishing wines, assisted in daily operation of 24,000 case winery.
  • Maintained the winery database, purchased all necessary supplies for production and bottling.

NEWTON VINEYARDS — St. Helena, CA (1996–1997) 

Position: Enologist

  • Performed all laboratory analysis and record keeping, upgraded laboratory and established standard lab procedures, made all lab purchases, including major equipment.
  • Involved in all elements of cellar work
